Brock, Patricia

Photography - Design BlokzTM, giclee, enlargements, notecards

My work has transitioned into semi-abstract images with bright colors that stimulate strong feelings: joy, contentment, delight.

When asked why this drastic shift in my artwork has come about, I answer that I see this as a natural progression of my photography sparked by significant change in my life.

Patricia has always loved photography and when she was young began photographing her friends and family using her mother’s box camera. Today she uses both film and digital cameras to capture her images and has expanded her subjects to include nature, scenery and architecture.

After retiring in 1998 from teaching elementary school, Patricia embarked on a new career and established her business, Captures of Nature. She is a natural and available light photographer with her goal to capture the images as they look with the play of light, shadows and colors. Various surfaces such as photo paper, metallic papers, canvas and brushed aluminum are selected for printing her images.

Patricia Brock’s new works are a radical shift, creating vivid excitement in her new exhibit. Known for her “Captures of Nature” photographs, her contemporary images impart a visual punch. Capturing the play of light and shadows, her sculptural scenes, (some abstract and some recognizable) are her artistic interpretation of the world.

These “Color Explosion” images are printed on specialized metallic papers creating bright, saturated colors for archival quality prints.

Patricia is a juried participant of the Kentucky Arts Council’s Kentucky Crafted program, and a juried member of The Louisville Artisans Guild. She co-owns and exhibits at Gallery Janjobe in Louisville, Kentucky.
