Edd Johannemann has a lifelong curiosity with light and color. Having originally begun his career in photography, he presently explores the interplay of light, shadow, color and line through his art glass. Edd’s interest in stone sculpture and wood working also shapes his creations, as does his fascination with transitions and the Divine. The combination of these influences instill a sense of motion and depth that is manifest physically in his art.
Edd’s training includes a BA in Liberal Studies with a minor in Fine Art from Bellarmine University. In pursuit of his studies, Edd made stops at Berea College and the University of Louisville studying art and photography. After taking a course in copper foil method stained glass, Edd discovered a medium that provides a creative outlet for his many interests and passions. Since his initial experience in working with glass, Edd has continued, through practice, experimentation, and trial and error to refine and expand his abilities to incorporate leaded stained glass, and other techniques to create a sculptural style that is uniquely his.
