Jewelry - Silver and Mixed Media Jewelry
The jewelry I make is one of a kind. I don’t know if this is part of my artistic style or that I have a short attention span. In any event I make all of the traditional jewelry items rings, bracelets, pendants etc. I work mostly in silver.
My jewelry creations have been influenced by the Art Deco period and artists such as Kandinsky, Gockel, Miro and Calder.
I spent my entire working life in sales and sales management. One day in my new retired life my wife said she liked a necklace in a magazine. I said, “My dad taught me how to tie fishing flies when I was a kid, I can make you one of those.” I found out making jewelry entailed much more than tying a fly. However, I was hooked on creating jewelry.
I have had several metal/jewelry classes at Miami University. In addition to Miami University I have attended classes at various locations taught by jewelry artists; Dale Nichols, Sharilyn Miller, and Andy Cooperman.
I use silver more than any other metal. However I also use copper, bronze, 14K gold fill and sometimes wood to create my jewelry.
