My work consists of off-loom beadweaving using needle and thread to weave glass seed beads and pressed Czech glass beads into bracelets, necklaces, earrings and other wearable art. My mother nurtured my love of beads and the arts in general. As a young girl, I spent evenings at the knees of my mother who spent endless hours beading and sequinning her mother’s evening dresses. Initially I took a little different route and graduated from the University of Louisville with a degree in Fine Arts (painting). Several years later, I moved to fiber arts, creating wearable quilts and one-of-a-kind wall hangings. My fiber work was published in a local arts magazine (now defunct) and in “Quilts to Wear” by Virginia Avery. My fiber works were also juried into regional exhibits at the Speed Museum and the Evansville Museum of Arts. When I finally retired in 2013, I had time to try my hand at beadweaving, something I’ve wanted to do since I was a child. One class had me hooked and I haven’t been able to put it down since.
